1. UAW launches historic strike

The United Auto Workers (UAW) launched an historic strike Thursday night. It targeted three Detroit automakers simultaneously.

After their contracts expired on Thursday at 11:59 pm, union members in assembly plants located in Michigan, Missouri and Ohio, went on strike. The UAW has called the strike “Stand Up Strike”, which targets the plants of three major automakers in the area: Ford Motor Co. General Motors and Stellantis.

UAW President Shawn Fain believes that the union leaders will use pickets to “keep the companies on their toes.”

2. Hunter Biden arrested on federal gun charges

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has been indicted on federal gun charges, marking the first time in U.S. history the Justice Department has charged the child of a sitting president.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, claimed the indictment was a result of political pressure from Republicans. He said in statement: “Hunter Biden possessing an unloaded gun for 11 days was not a threat to public…
