Mohammed, the comedian’s boss, says that “representations are already quite stark.” She also says the “diaspora,” or the diverse communities, is “beautiful” and “amazing”, but that we “don’t see.”
Mohammed adds, “And to see queer Muslims portrayed on screen has been virtually non-existent in the past.” “Both these beautiful communities I’m part of, and that I love so dearly, are marginalized historically onscreen. When we see them in joy, it’s revolutionary and defies a lot stereotypes. It lets people know we are humans, which is one of the most valuable things.”
