Red Shirt Pride Day is celebrated on the first Saturday in June. It celebrates a momentous occasion that brought together the LGBTQ community at the “happiest spot on Earth”.
Red Shirt Day kicks off Pride Month
The Kindred Pride Foundation celebrates the 30th Annual Red Shirt Pride Day during this pride month. Alison Burgos is the co-founder of Kindred Pride Foundation. She explains that this event began in an unexpected but heartwarming manner.
Sonia Baghdady tells her: “A gentleman named Doug was friends with several online people back then and they decided to move Disney World.” Advocate Now. “They all were LGBT, and were going to wear red shirts to identify each other. They were also going to meet at a castle by a certain hour. “One person told someone else that there were hundreds of people.”
Disney World is the world’s largest LGBTQ+ destination. Tens of thousands LGBTQ+ people and their allies will be arriving the first weekend of June to celebrate Pride. Kindred Pride celebrations are now a way to allow people from around the globe to take part.
