1. Biden promises aid to Israel, Ukraine

Joe Biden, the U.S. president, made his second Oval Office speech and requested $100 billion for Ukraine and Israel. Biden said that the United States is an “indispensable nation” and that the current moment in time is one “where the decisions we make today are going to determine the future for decades to come.”

Biden was urged to call for a ceasefire to protect Palestinians and criticised the United States’ supply of arms to Israel by a number of Democratic legislators. The IDF has also admitted to dropping 6,000 bombs on the Gaza Strip during the first six days of war — more than the U.S. dropped in any given month while combating ISIS.

The United Nations has warned Palestinians that Israeli reprisals could lead to “genocide”. Israel has stopped Palestinians from accessing water, food and fuel as well as electricity. It also ordered those living in northern Gaza evacuate their homes.
