The Misty Copeland Foundation’s mission is to provide dance education for communities with limited resources. The organization has recently launched its Be Bold program, which provides an accessible way to learn ballet for children.
Be Bold’s first season began in the fall of 2022 in New York City. Sindy Folgar explains that the goal is to impart valuable life lessons through an art form that has been around for centuries but that most people have never experienced.

Be Bold instructions were developed in collaboration with child psychologists. Folgar said that these instructions “are so needed now” to help students develop self-awareness, social awareness and decision making skills. She says that despite being a relatively new organization, “we can already see the changes” in her students.
