1. The controversy at the World Climate Conference

The head of the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is leading climate talks around the world, sparking controversy amongst legislators and activists. Sultan al-Jaber was the leader of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (owned by the United Arab Emirates), and the head for COP28 – the United Arab Emirates’ annual climate conference, where world leaders address climate change – earlier this year.

According to lawmakers, the fossil fuel lobby has already had a negative impact on the world’s policy. Al-Jaber will be leading a conference that aims specifically to curb their damage and effect on legislation.
