What is Mike Johnson the MAGA Republican who has been elected House Speaker?
Mike Johnson, the Republican representative from Louisiana, has been chosen as the new Speaker of the House of Representatives. He brings with him an anti-LGBTQ+ record, an anti-abortion record, and a history of anti-democracy. The Louisiana Republican voted against numerous pro-equality measures, including the Equality Act.
Johnson is also a conservative representative who, in 2020, filed an amicusbrief with the Supreme Court to overturn President Joe Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania.
