1. Two dozen US attacks on Iraq and Syria in two weeks

According to Defense Department officials, drone attacks on U.S. military bases in Syria and Iraq increased dramatically over the last two weeks. Since Oct. 17, there have been 23 drone attacks, 14 in Iraq and nine or more in Syria. The U.S. military has not reported any deaths, but 21 people have been injured.

Such attacks have been common for years, but have increased in frequency since the U.S. backed Israel following the Hamas attacks on October 7. On Thursday, the U.S. struck two sites in eastern Syria linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps in response to the drone attacks. In anticipation of further attacks, the U.S. also increased force protection in this region.

2. Palestinians in Jerusalem are afraid of being wrongly arrested by Israeli police

Palestinians in East Jerusalem are afraid to leave home for fear of being detained by Israeli police. Over 10,000 Palestinians have been detained. Half of them were arrested in the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2001 attacks. Four thousand of those detained following…
