1. Pentagon reviews LGBTQ+ military discharges under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

A program announced by the Department of Defense last week may allow LGBTQ+ veterans to regain their honor after being discharged with no honor for their sexuality. On the 12th Anniversary of the repeal of ‘don’t ask don’t say’, the Defense Department has announced it will reexamine all records of those veterans who served during the controversial policy.

Bill Clinton’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy allowed gay servicemen to remain in the military as long as they kept their sexual orientation secret. If their sexuality was discovered by officials, they were discharged and classified as “under less than honorable conditions.”
