1. Israel is condemned worldwide for its raid on Gaza’s largest hospital
Israel has started a raid against Gaza’s largest medical facility, Al-Shifa. This is based on the unsubstantiated claim that Hamas uses it as a base. Humanitarian organizations and world leaders have both condemned the attack on the hospital. The staff of the facility vehemently denied that it was a Hamas headquarters.
Israeli troops have surrounded Al-Shifa’s facilities and prevented the refugees and 600 patients from leaving. Israel’s restrictions on fuel, food, water and electricity have forced all hospitals in Gaza City to stop taking new patients.
“I’m appalled by reports of military raids in Al Shifa hospital in Gaza,” UN undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, Martin Griffiths, wrote X. “The protection for newborns, medical personnel, and civilians in general must take precedence over all other concerns.” Hospitals aren’t battlegrounds.”
