1. Senator Menendez refuses to resign despite pleading not guilty to charges of bribery

Bob Menendez, the senator from New Jersey, pleaded no contest to charges related to a bribery scheme on Wednesday. New Jersey legislator, Bob Menendez, has been accused of three counts. They include accepting bribes from New Jersey businesses to pressure a state prosecutor into investigating New Jersey’s businessmen.

The bribes are alleged to include gold bars and hundreds of thousands in cash as well as a luxury automobile in exchange for the Egyptian government receiving sensitive information. Menendez has said that he won’t resign.

2. An El Niño winter is coming for the United States

This winter will be the first in a few years to feel the effects of El Niño, which is expected to have a sizable impact on the weather during the coldest months of the year.
